Check it out on your own, or bring the family along for some of these events!
The biggest Christmas event in Texas is the Dallas Holiday Parade. This is one of the largest parades in America attracting over 500,000 spectators. The parade includes marching bands, imaginative Christmas floats, larger-than-life balloon characters, and much more. An unusual outing is the Texas Hill Country Wineries “Christmas Wine Affair." near Fredericksburg. Of course, the wine tour is not for people under 21, but mom and dad should definitely appreciate this excursion. Every day from November 30 to December 16, tours go to four wineries to taste, tour and potentially purchase some of the best wines in Texas. Each day tours go to different wineries, all of which are among the 45 participating.
The quaint little town of Fredericksburg celebrates their German heritage by lighting both the German Christmas Pyramid and the Community Christmas Tree at the Vereins Kirche at Marketplatz. A real treat is the outdoor skating rink from November to January.
The City of Roanoke annually hosts the Old-Fashioned Christmas Parade and Event. See musical performances at various places around town or visit the Victorian Christmas at the Roanoke Visitor Center & Museum.
You will also find strolling carolers and photos with Santa, a children's train, and carriage rides around town.
